“Hey Siri, check forklift stock”

1. Get your private key

Sign in to Forklift-World as an admin. Open the Tools menu and choose Siri Shortcut. Tap Create Siri key, then Copy key. It expires after 90 days. Creating another replaces the old key; Revoke Siri key disables it.

The key allows stock and cost lookups. Keep it inside your private shortcut; do not share the shortcut with the key included.

2. Build the shortcut

Open Apple Shortcuts, tap +, and name it Check forklift stock. Add the actions below in order. Text in square brackets means insert a variable using the variable picker—not literal text.

1. Text: paste your private key. Add Set Variable and name it SiriKey.
2. Ask for Input: select Text, not Number, to preserve leading zeros and dashes. Prompt: “What is the part number? Say each digit and dash.”
3. Get Contents of URL: URL https://forklift-world.com/api/siri/prepare. Expand its options. Method: POST. Add header Authorization with value Bearer [SiriKey] (one space after Bearer). Request Body: JSON. Add a Text field number whose value is the Ask for Input result.
4. Set Variable: name this response Prepared.
5. Get Dictionary Value: get number from Prepared. Set Variable: PartNumber.
6. If PartNumber does not have any value: get dictionary value speech from Prepared; Speak Text with that value; then Stop This Shortcut (or Stop and Output, depending on iOS). End If.
7. Get Dictionary Value: get prompt from Prepared. Set Variable: ConfirmationPrompt.
8. Ask for Input: Text input; set its prompt to [ConfirmationPrompt]. Siri should read “I heard … Say yes to search, or no to cancel.”
9. Get Contents of URL: URL https://forklift-world.com/api/siri/lookup. Method: POST. Header Authorization: Bearer [SiriKey]. Request Body: JSON. Add Text fields number = [PartNumber], and confirmation = the second Ask for Input result.
10. Get Dictionary Value: get speech from the latest Get Contents of URL result.
11. Speak Text: speak that dictionary value. Keep Wait Until Finished enabled.

3. Test while parked

Run once while unlocked to approve any Shortcuts permissions. Then say “Hey Siri, check forklift stock.” Use a known complete part number, speaking each digit. Say no first to check cancellation. Run again and say yes only when the read-back is correct.

English confirmation: yes, correct, or confirm. Mandarin: 是、对、确认. Any other response cancels; start the shortcut again to retry. Siri's language controls dictation; this first version's prompts and stock response are English.

Multiple variants are announced without quoting a price. A single result includes stock, last cost, and stored listed selling price. Missing or zero prices are announced as unavailable. This first version matches numeric SKU codes with optional LR prefixes and letter suffixes, not descriptions or OEM cross-references.

If asked to unlock, unlock while parked. Locked-screen and Bluetooth behaviour must be tested on your phone. Number recognition is not guaranteed. You must check the spoken digits.
